Ugh, I hate writing these things.
You have to have a certain level of narcissism to talk about yourself and it just doesn’t sit right with me. Ah well – It’s got to be done.
Let’s get started with the basics – the name.
‘Hazuki’ is the family name from highly acclaimed video game franchise Shenmue – a game that I grew up with and a game that, over time, I grew to love. The main protagonists name is Ryo Hazuki and the title is also the main inspiration for my love of Japanese culture.
When naming my new metropolis I drew inspiration from Shenmue and decided to name my city Hazuki Heights. The name kinda stuck, it has a ring to it don’t you think?
If you’ve seen my first post, you’ll know what this is all about. In short I’m looking for a space to compile all my ideas and opinions, and a place to receive feedback on those things. (Simple right?)
Now that you know what I’m here for – a bit about me.
I’m Kieran, I work in Information Technology at a Cyber Security company in the UK. My main hobbies and interests (wow, this is starting to sound like a tinder bio) are video games, video editing, music production, graphic design and football. It’s a mix you don’t often see actually, people never expect the nerdy kid who always talks about video games to hold a chat about last weeks champions league results!
I used to do YouTube a while back, under the moniker DownloadableKieran, and it was a massive passion of mine – I really enjoyed it.
While things slowly took off (some of my videos caught some serious traction) I found inconstancy and lack of feedback to be my biggest barriers. Despite my best efforts to create a community out of the 7000 subscribers I had amassed, a lack of communication meant that I was unsure on what people liked, and more importantly, what they didn’t like. On top of that I often changed style and appearance a lot, making it all the more difficult to establish a brand.
This time I’m taking it easy, no end game – no goal. Just an endless abyss of my ramblings for you to enjoy.
So please, if you ever have some feedback, an idea for a guest blog or just want a chat, you can contact me through the contact page.
